BRIARCLIFF MANOR EDUCATION FOUNDATION

MISSION STATEMENT

• To enhance educational opportunities in the Briarcliff Manor Public Schools by engaging the support of educators, students, parents, alumni, community members and the business community.

• To benefit students through financial support of programs, activities and resources that enhance the school.

• To encourage and support the professional growth of school staff by providing opportunities for additional education and development that would benefit students.

• To increase the community’s awareness of and support for the Briarcliff Manor Public Schools.

BMEF has been in existence since 1995 years and has raised close to $1,000,000 for programs that have enhanced the educational experience of Briarcliff’s students. Each year we sponsor a series of fundraising initiatives to support grants that benefit the students in the Briarcliff Schools.

Throughout the year we provide funding for teachers to attend professional development workshops and seminars that enhance their teaching skills.

In the winter we open our grants proposal cycle in which the teachers, administrators and community members can apply for funding to enhance the educational experience. The grants have ranged from very small projects that cost little but add much to the students’ education, to substantial gifts of Smartboards, computer laboratories, science equipment, an outdoor classroom at the middle school, funding for the Todd School playground and professional quality musical instruments. Grants are awarded in the Spring for project completion in the following school year.
