The BMEF funded materials and teacher training to bring the Singapore Math method of teaching math to Briarcliff students K-6. This innovative method, which focuses on making visual models to understand math word problems, is gaining in popularity in the United States after its success overseas. Rather than relying on strict memorization of facts, students learn to create models of math problems to
understand in a more concrete way.
This engaging teaching brings math to life for all students, so much so that it has been adopted as the math curriculum at the Todd School.
